Halesi Mahadev is situated eastern part of Nepal, almost 250km distance from Kathmandu. The temple lies inside a beautiful and mysterious natural cave on the top of a small hill. It believed another Pashupatinath in eastern Nepal. Two holy rivers: Dudh Koshi and Sun Koshi flows through the temple and it is believed to have been into existence since 6000 years.
It is equally popular among Hindu and Buddhist. The natural and huge cave is the main attraction of Halesi Mahadev. The cave is associated with Guru Rinpoche in Buddhism and Lord Shiva to Hinduism. There are several occasion big ceremony goes in the temple. Behind the temple, there is a huge natural cave which is capable of thousands of monks for meditation. Near the temple, Matrika Monastery lies, which is famous among Buddhist peoples.
At Halesi Mahadev, there are three mysterious caves which are considered to be the three eyes of Lord Shiva. There is a custom of performing special ceremonial rites at the “Haleshwor Mahadeva”. It is main attraction of tourists and religious people.
